Team news: Watmore starts against Walsall

Duncan Watmore will make his second start of the season when Sunderland face Walsall in the Emirates FA Cup this evening.

The striker will feature in a front three alongside Chris Maguire and Jerome Sinclair, as Josh Maja drops to the bench and Lynden Gooch is left out of the squad.

Luke O’Nien is also included in the starting XI, but where he will feature remains to be seen.

Jack Baldwin, Tom Flanagan and Bryan Oviedo are expected to feature at the back, while Dylan McGeouch, George Honeyman and Max Power look likely to form the midfield.

With Adam Matthews, Donald Love and Denver Hume out, and Flanagan also included in the XI, right-back seems a likely fit for O’Nien.

Lee Cattermole, who hasn’t played since October, is back in the squad.

Sunderland: McLaughlin, Baldwin, Flanagan, O’Nien, Oviedo, McGeouch, Honeyman, Power, Maguire, Watmore, Sinclair.
Subs not used: Ruiter, Loovens, Ozturk, Cattermole, James, Maja, Mumba.
