Jack Ross was left disappointed by the manner of the goals conceded by his side tonight as Sunderland exited the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle.

Goals from Marco Matias and Adam Reach in either half handed Sheffield Wednesday an advantage that proved too much for the Lads to overturn.

However, it could’ve so easily been a different story had Luke O’Nien and Elliot Embleton made the most of their first-half chances before George Honeyman saw his volley from distance headed away after the restart.
