Manager's preview: Coleman on Norwich City

Sunderland have been written off by many, but Chris Coleman believes his side are firmly in the hunt for survival.

15 points remain up for grabs in the Sky Bet Championship and the Black Cats’ rivals are in the driving seat, with the Lads currently seven points adrift of safety.

On Tuesday night, Coleman’s men face their latest test against a Norwich City side on the up, having defeated play-off chasing Aston Villa 4-1 on Saturday.

But Coleman isn’t ready to give up just yet, insisting fortunes can change very quickly while there are points to be had.

“We’ve been written off and we have nothing to lose,” said Coleman.

“If the teams above us are going to slip up, we don’t want to be there thinking that we missed an opportunity because we didn’t perform.”

He continued: “We’re desperate for the result but we just have to go out there and perform, and give ourselves a chance.

“You never know, it can change very quickly and I’ve seen it so many times, teams are written off and then come from nowhere.

“Look, the teams above us are in the driving seat and it’s there’s to lose, but let’s make sure that if they slip up, we’re still in it and we’re on their tails chasing them down.

“I’m the first one to say when we don’t perform and we don’t deserve it, but the last three games have been more like it and that’s what we need going forward.

“It’s a long shot, but we’re still in the hunt.”
