View from the opposition: Slutsky on Sunderland

Leonid Slutsky is hopeful Hull City can rekindle their spark on home soil after back-to-back defeats on the road.

The Tigers were downed 5-0 at Derby County last Friday before Fulham notched their first home win of the season on Wednesday, at the expense of Slutsky’s side.

Hull City return to the KCOM on Saturday to entertain Sunderland, and speaking at his pre-match press conference, Russian boss Slutsky revealed he is hopeful familiar surroundings can see the Tigers get their season back on track.

“Each home match is a chance (but we face) Sunderland who are a good team,” he said.

“We play at home and we will play to win with maximum aggression in attack.

“For me Championship is difficult and unpredictable. For me Wolves, Fulham, Derby maybe top three.

“Fulham are one of the best in the league but they didn’t start well, same as Sunderland - similar to us.

“We have the same target and the same problem so we see tomorrow who is better at adapting.

“We need a little bit of luck and then we can have serious confidence,” he continued.

“We have chances in each game but of course we must deserve it.

“We won’t make a lot of changes for tomorrow but we have difficult fixtures and we need to adapt our formation.

“We don’t have the time for many training sessions together so I don’t want to make a lot of changes.”
