Oviedo: “We need to play with our heart"

Bryan Oviedo has urged his team-mates to play with their heart as they look to put last night’s disappointment behind them.

The Costa Rican full-back completed 90 minutes last night as he made his first appearance at the Stadium of Light this season.

Unfortunately though, it wasn’t the homecoming Oviedo had hoped for as the Black Cats were dealt a cruel blow in the closing stages as Daryl Murphy netted in the most clinical fashion to steal all three points for Nottingham Forest.

But speaking to safc.com, Oviedo called on his team-mates to dust themselves down and draw on the positives of a largely pleasing display.

“It is not easy and we are very disappointed because we tried in the beginning of the game,” he said.

“We fought and it was a very good game for us. We were unlucky to lose but we couldn’t score a goal, the only option we have now is to keep going.

“We changed somethings and we were much better than in the past.

“We need to continue, we need to fight and be one unit because we know we are a very good team.

“The results haven’t helped us but we know we are a good team. In our next game we need to show we can continue and be better.

“We fought and we also fought back after they scored but we need to continue in the next game because we have a very good team.

“We need to play with our heart – this is the most important thing,” he continued.

“I want to win, I want to help the team and of course I want to make the supporters happy because they support us all the time.

“It is very good for us and as a team we are thankful for that.

“We need to continue in the next couple of games now and make things better.”
