Focused on Forest: 'We have to take responsibility' - O'Shea

John O'Shea admitted it is up to himself and his team-mates to take responsibility and ensure a response is issued tomorrow night.

The Black Cats continue their Sky Bet Championship campaign on Tuesday 12 September, kick-off 7.45pm, when they entertain Nottingham Forest to the Stadium of Light.

Defeat on Saturday to Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United left the lads with much to ponder, but tomorrow’s second home match in four days provides Simon Grayson’s side with the perfect chance for redemption.

And speaking to safc.com, Republic of Ireland international O’Shea has called on his team-mates to stand up and collectively get on with the job in hand.

“There are no hiding places and we have to bounce back as quickly as possible with Nottingham Forest at home on Tuesday night,” he said.

“We have to dust ourselves down and whatever team the manager picks we have to go out and put on a performance and do all we can to get three points.

“It is not happening at the minute but we have to make sure we all stick together and somehow find that win to turn that corner and we have to do it as quickly as possible.

“The team ethic has got to be everyone going in that one direction,” he continued.

“When the manager picks the team the players have to take responsibility and that responsibility means getting on the ball in tough situations.

“We all need to do that collectively. We win together and we lose together.”
