Legend Liaison: Nuggsy's pre-match prediction

“Amazing.”

That was the word Nyron Nosworthy used to describe his seven-years at Sunderland.

Affectionately known as ‘Nuggsy’ by Black Cats fans, to say Nyron was a fan favourite on Wearside is probably an understatement.

“My time at Sunderland went from one spectrum to another,” Nosworthy said.

“It basically changed my life and my family’s life. I met a lot of people at the club and I have got so many good memories.

“From what I was used to in London it was quite a normal life and to then move to Sunderland, where I made some history for the club and my family – it changed the spectrum of my life.”

This Saturday sees two of his former club’s go head-to-head as the hectic Sky Bet Championship schedule whirls back into action once again.

Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United visit the Stadium of Light looking to do what no Blades team has managed since March 1991. Win on Wearside.

While Wilder’s side have made an impressive start to life back in England’s second tier, the Blades are yet to collect a point on the road this season having lost to Middlesbrough and Cardiff City.

Sunderland, meanwhile, head into Saturday’s fixture targeting three points. Back-to-back league debuts prior to the international break dented what had been a steady, yet pleasing, start to the campaign.

So what will this weekend bring? Will Simon Grayson’s side notch their first home win of the season or will it be third time lucky for Sheffield United on the road?

Nuggsy?

“As it is at home I would be going for Sunderland because that is where you want to be strongest.

“Sheffield United have started the season well and they are on a bit of form but it is hard to predict at this stage of the season.

“I will say that anything is possible in this league (the Championship) but Sunderland must be targeting the win.

“Especially as they are home, they should be confident.

“If Sunderland can get a run going, momentum takes over, then anything can happen.

“Everyone starts feeling better about themselves and all of a sudden you come a real outfit.”
