Team news: Ndong out for three weeks

Paddy McNair will be available for selection when Sunderland travel to Burton Albion but Didier Ndong will miss up to three weeks due to a knee injury.

Both missed the midweek trip to Aston Villa with Ndong also missing last weekend’s stalemate against Millwall, with the Gabon international taking time away from the club due to personal reasons.

Marc Wilson will also miss out due to a calf problem but Lee Cattermole is available again after serving a one-match ban

“Catts was suspended so he’s fine,” said Chris Coleman.

“Big McNair is on the back of the injury he had so Saturday-Tuesday was just too much for him, but Marc Wilson still won’t be available.”

He continued: “Ndong won’t be ready for two to three weeks.

“He has a knee issue which we need to get right and we will get it right with the medical team.

“He didn’t play for Gabon during the international break and had some bad news with his family, but it’s an issue with his knee and it’ll be a few weeks.”
