Suits me: Grabban relishing Coleman link-up

Chris Coleman has made an immediate impression on the Sunderland squad, according to Lewis Grabban.

The Welshman had just one session to prepare his side for Tuesday’s trip to Aston Villa, and there were noticeable improvements despite the Black Cats slipping to a narrow defeat.

Grabban, 29, continued his scintillating form with his tenth Sky Bet Championship goal of the campaign, with a trip to Burton Albion next on the to-do list.

And the striker believes he’ll thrive under Coleman’s management.

“He’s only had one day but obviously he likes to play on the deck and he’s a footballing type of manager, and that’s been clear from the first day.

“I prefer the ball to my feet and on the deck than higher balls, so it should suit me.

“He’s been really positive,” continued Grabban. “He’s highlighted, as we already know, how difficult it’s going to be.

“We’re in a difficult spot but we need to keep faith and hopefully we can turn it around.

“The club did well [to bring Coleman in]. The players were happy and now we just have to kick on.”
