Seven years ago today Premier League leaders and reigning champions Chelsea were stunned at Stamford Bridge as Sunderland secured a convincing 3-0 win.
Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic escaped a red card for fouling Danny Welbeck but he was powerless to prevent the Black Cats’ opener, as Nedum Onuoha burst past three defenders and fired the ball into the net.
Asamoah Gyan added a second - followed by a rather memorable goal celebration with Bolo Zenden - before Welbeck rubbed salt into Chelsea’s wounds with a cool finish to capitalise on Ashley Cole’s poor backpass.
