Rebuilding: Moyes geared towards 2017-18 success

David Moyes has revealed that planning is well underway to ensure Sunderland bounce back to the Premier League.

A tough campaign came to a disappointing finale last weekend against AFC Bournemouth, as Josh King’s late strike snatched three points for Eddie Howe’s side and confirmed relegation.

The focus now is geared towards ensuring the Black Cats hit the ground running and speaking to safc.com, Moyes declared he knows exactly what it takes to ensure Sunderland return to the top flight.

“I know what needs to be done to get back into the Premier League,” said the Black Cats boss.

“I met with Martin [Bain] and Ellis [Short] this week and we had initial discussions about moving forward and what we have to do.”

He continued: “We spoke about how we see things and we’ve planned to meet again in the next couple of weeks.

“We have to work and find a way to make things correct, so we will look to see what we can do.

“Right from the start we’ve said this is a rebuilding job, so hopefully we can get things going and get that in place.”
