How's stat?: Opta guide to Saturday's game

Sunderland return to the Stadium of Light on Sunday to face Manchester City in the Premier League (KO 4pm).

The Black Cats have won four of the last six meetings between the two sides on Wearside, with all of those victories ending in 1-0 wins.

But was once an unfathomable record against the PL’s big spenders, has since turned into somewhat of a hoodoo.

Indeed, the Citizens have won on each of their last two trips to the SoL while winning each of the last five encounters between the sides in all competitions.

Sergio Aguero has often held the key to success with the Argentina international involved in six goals in his last four top-flight games against the Black Cats (four goals, two assists).

And although City have won 68% of the PL meetings between the sides – 17 wins from 25 games – David Moyes just might have a trick up his sleeve.

The Scot has lost just two of the 12 home games he’s managed against the Citizens, winning seven of those encounters.

At home, Moyes has only beaten Fulham (12) on more occasions during his managerial career.

Jermain Defoe, who has scored in 13 calendar months in a row, also has an excellent record against City, scoring eight goals.

The striker has only scored more PL goals against Wigan Athletic (10) and will be hoping to tie that tally on Sunday.

And City boss Pep Guardiola will be out to ensure an outstanding record remains intact.

The Spaniard has suffered five league defeats since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium – and he has never lost six in a single league campaign as a manager.
