England Under-21s: Pickford selected for Euros

Jordan Pickford has received an England under-21 call-up ahead of this summer’s European Championships in Poland.

The Sunderland stopper enjoyed a phenomenal breakthrough campaign, with countless saves and a wealth of memorable performances cementing his spot in the starting XI.

Just 22, Pickford’s Premier League form led to two senior call-ups with England boss Gareth Southgate reserving special praise for the Washington-born ‘keeper.

Last summer Pickford helped the under-21s to Toulon Tournament success and he’ll be hoping to play a prominent role as Aidy Boothroyd’s side gun for glory at the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championships.

England will open the showpiece tournament on 16 June against Sweden, who have selected Joel Asoro, before facing Slovakia and hosts Poland.

Updates will be available on safc.com throughout the course of the tournament.
