Friends reunited: Galloway links up with close friends

Brendan Galloway believes a host of familiar faces in Sunderland’s squad will help him settle in straight away.

The defender completed his season-long loan switch from Everton last week and linked up with his team-mates for the first time yesterday at Hibernian.

Galloway featured for 45 minutes at Easter Road as Simon Grayson’s Sunderland begun their six-day trip to Scotland with a 2-2 draw against Neil Lennon's side.

And as the 21-year-old looks to bed into the team, Galloway admits familiar faces in Darron Gibson, Tyias Browning and Bryan Oviedo (who is yet to return) will undoubtedly help him hit the ground running in red and white.

“All the players I know already will definitely help me settle in quickly,” he stated.

“I also know Duncan Watmore very well already through playing for England and that will help me settle in.

“I’m sure all the Lads will help me settle in quickly so we can start our work and have a good season.

“The fixtures are going to come really fast in pre-season and then before you know it the season is going to start,” he continued.

“Pre-season is really important for any player because you need to get yourself back to a good level of fitness and gel as a team.

“We need to work how the new manager wants us to play and make sure that come the first game of the season we are ready.”
