It didn’t take much (to persuade me) because the club speaks for itself
BRENDAN GALLOWAY

Brendan Galloway has vowed to give everything he has in red and white.

The defender moved to Sunderland from Everton on a season-long loan yesterday, becoming Simon Grayson’s first signing at the Stadium of Light.

Just 21, Galloway is an accomplished centre-half and left-back who joins the Black Cats itching to impress after making 20 appearances for the Toffees.

Speaking to safc.com in his first interview, Galloway admits he didn’t need to be persuaded to join the club and has set his sights firmly on bringing the good times back to Wearside.

“It is really exciting and I am looking forward to working with the new manager and the players to hopefully work hard and get promoted this season,” he said.

“Just knowing that Sunderland is a massive club (was a real attraction to me).

“Everyone I have spoken to have told me that it is a huge club and the ambition of the club and the manager to get the club back to where they belong.

“It didn’t take much (to persuade me) because the club speaks for itself,” he continued.

“It is a massive club, everyone is aware of that, and the ambition of the manager as well – he is a great manager and he just wants to get them back to where they belong.

“I’m a hard-working player, I am a player who likes to win, to tackle and I like to get up and down.”
