Team news: Grayson names his first starting XI

Simon Grayson has named his first starting XI as Sunderland manager with kick-off against Bury just one hour away.

Vito Mannone starts for the Black Cats and there’s further familiar faces in the backline, with Billy Jones, Lamine Kone and Papy Djilobodji all starting at Gigg Lane.

Adam Matthews is also included after returning to Wearside following a season-long loan spell at Bristol City, as Lee Cattermole, Jack Rodwell and George Honeyman form the midfield.

A young attack sees Luke Molyneux, Rees Greenwood and Lynden Gooch tasked with bettering the Bury defence.

Darron Gibson, Wahbi Khazri and Josh Maja are on the bench along with a host of others.
