Flying Dutchman: Lens enjoying scoring form

Jeremain Lens is hoping to score more ‘beautiful goals’ following another stunning solo effort against Bradford City.

The Dutchman took Valley Parade by storm with an early assist for Josh Maja setting the tone, and it didn’t take long for him to score one of his own.

With eight minutes on the clock he powered through the gears and turned on sixpence before sending a delightful dink over Rouven Sattelmaier and into the corner.

And after adding to screamers against Livingston and Hartlepool United, the flying Dutchman is enjoying his football.

“It’s always good to score goals,” said Lens.

“Sometimes you score beautiful goals and sometime they’re normal, so I’m lucky that I’m scoring nice ones in this moment.”

He continued: “I’m feeling fit so hopefully I can continue my performances.

“The most important part of pre-season for the team – and also myself – is making sure you’re fit so you have to keep working hard to become as fit as possible.

“I’m a Sunderland player and because of that I’ll do everything for the club, so I’ll keep fighting and work hard for the team.

“And hopefully keep scoring goals!”
