Team news: O'Shea starts against Stoke

Sunderland have made one change for today’s Premier League match-up against Stoke City.

John O’Shea becomes Sunderland’s record-appearance maker in the PL – level with Phil Bardsley – with Jason Denayer returning to the midfield as the Irishman partners Papy Djilobodji at the back.

Seb Larsson and Donald Love also retain their places in the starting XI.

The former Manchester United man is likely to switch position, though, and operate at right back with Javier Manquillo dropping to the bench.

Fabio Borini, Adnan Januzaj and Jermain Defoe are the front three.

Sunderland: Mannone, Love, O’Shea, Djilobodji, van Aanholt, Denayer, Rodwell, Larsson, Borini, Januzaj, Defoe.
Substitutes: Mika, Maja, Asoro, Embleton, Jones, Manquillo, Honeyman.
