Loan watch: Two feature, two miss out

Catch up with the latest loan action involving the Black Cats who are currently plying their trade away from the Stadium of Light.

Jeremain Lens – Fenerbahce 1-0 Istanbul Buyuk

Jeremain Lens completed 90 minutes as Fenerbahce returning to winning ways against league leaders Istanbul Buyuk.

The Dutchman picked up a yellow card as Dick Advocaat’s side clinched a narrow victory, with Ozan Tufan scoring the only goal with 28 minutes played.

Fener now sit fourth in the table but they’ve reduced the gap between them and Buyuk to just four points.

Sebastian Coates – Martimo 2-2 Sporting Lisbon

Seb Coates featured as Sporting Lisbon were held to a 2-2 draw at Maritmo.

The sides traded blows early as Eber opened the scoring before Bas Dost levelled, but Sporting fell behind for the second time as Raul Melo da Silva scored on 33 minutes.

Sporting fought back again, though, with Gelson Martins grabbing a decisive equaliser on the hour mark.

Will Buckley – Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Injured Will Buckley missed a fiery encounter with his former club as Sheffield Wednesday were defeated at Brighton – as three players were sent off.

Anthony Knockaert opened the scoring for Brighton before a Lewis Dunk own goal saw the Owls level, with Glenn Murray sent off before Fernando Forestieri was denied from the resulting spot kick.

Knockaert’s late second won the game but there was further drama as former Black Cat Steven Fletcher and Sam Hutchinson were sent off in the dying embers.

Adam Matthews – Nottingham Forest 1-0 Bristol City

Adam Matthews missed Bristol City’s eighth consecutive defeat as Ben Osborn’s strike handed Nottingham Forest a 1-0 win.

The Welshman is expected to be back in action next week.
