Wahbi Khazri’s involvement in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations was thrown into doubt when the winger suffered an ankle injury on Sunday, but the Tunisian Football Federation have confirmed he will be fit to feature.

The 25-year-old was carried off on a stretcher in Cairo during a defeat to Egypt, with Tunisia opening their tournament against Senegal on Sunday 15 January.

Khazri, who has 27 caps to his name, is a key player for the Eagles having scored ten goals at international level.

Ranked 35 in the FIFA rankings, Tunisia won the competition as hosts in 2004, and they’ve reached the quarter-final stage in three of the last five tournaments.

Khazri and co are coached by former Poland international Henryk Kasperczak, who also has Lille’s Naim Sliti and Valencia’s Aymen Abdennour at his disposal.

Dafabet rank Tunisia as tenth favourites to win the competition, with odds of 18-1 available.
