Jermain Defoe and Jordan Pickford attended the prestigious North East Football Writers' Awards on Sunday evening to collect their awards.
Defoe, 34, followed in the footsteps of Kevin Phillips and Thomas Sorensen as he received 2016's player of the year while Pickford was awarded young player of the year.
