Fitness update: Moyes waiting on trio

David Moyes admits Sunderland face an anxious wait following injuries to three key players during Saturday’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.

John O’Shea and Jack Rodwell were both forced off with hamstring injuries, with Adnan Januzaj, who provided two wonderful assists for Jermain Defoe, suffering a hip injury.

The extent of the injuries are yet to be determined with Saturday’s Stadium of Light showdown against Southampton looming, and Moyes conceded the Black Cats can’t afford to lose any more players.

"Januzaj came off with a hip injury,” said the Scot. “He played very well and he put in a great through ball for Jermain Defoe's second goal.

"Jack came off feeling his hamstring and that would be a real blow for us because he’s been coming into some much better form.”

He continued: "We have bought a couple of players in but we can't afford to lose any.

"John O'Shea is feeling his hamstring a little bit too.”
