Loan Watch: Lens and Nelson feature

A look back at how Sunderland's loan players got on over the weekend. . .

Jeremain Lens – Bursaspor 1-1 Fenerbahce

Jeremain Lens collected a yellow card as Fenerbahce conceded in the dying embers to drop two points at Bursaspor on Saturday.

Moussa Sow broke the deadlock on 22 minutes from the penalty spot, and that looked to have been enough to secure a valuable victory before Bursaspor struck back late on.

Pablo Batalla levelled the Super Lig fixture from the spot two minutes from time to earn a share of the spoils.

Andrew Nelson – Mansfield Town 4-0 Hartlepool United

Andrew Nelson featured for 90 minutes as Hartlepool United came up against a ruthless Mansfield Town side in League Two on Saturday.

For Hartlepool, though, it could’ve been a very different story had Padraig Amond punished Rhys Bennett’s poor clearance on 14 minutes.

From there it took Mansfield just five minutes to punish Pools for that missed chance, Ben Whiteman converted Shaq Coulthirst’s low cross from the right.

Danny Rose doubled the Stags’ advantage seven minutes later before two goals in five second-half minutes from Alex MacDonald and Whiteman secured a resounding victory for Steven Evans’ side.
