Loan watch: Robson makes Limerick debut

Tom Robson – Limerick 5-1 Sligo Rovers

Tommy Robson was left on cloud nine as his Limerick debut ended in an emphatic 5-1 win over Sligo Rovers.

On the opening day of the League of Ireland season, the on-loan Sunderland defender completed 90 minutes as Ian Turner opened the scoring before Rodrigo Tosi netted a hat-trick on his debut.

Matt Stevens pulled one back for Rovers prior to Tosi’s third, with Lee Lynch completing the scoring with 12 minutes remaining.

Jeremain Lens – Gaziantepspor 1-1 Fenerbache

Jeremain Lens was on the scoresheet but Fenerbahce were unable to return to winning ways, with the Turkish side held to a 1-1 draw at Gaziantepspor.

Sefa Yilmaz opened the scoring with 11 minutes played, but Dick Advocaat’s side struck back 12 minutes later through the on-loan Sunderland man.

The result leaves Fener in fourth place, nine points behind leaders Besiktas.

Andrew Nelson – Injured

Andrew Nelson’s loan spell at Hartlepool United came to a premature end after the striker suffered a damaged medial ligament.

The 19-year-old was forced off during last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Plymouth Argyle, and has since returned to Wearside.

Adam Matthews – Not selected

Adam Matthews wasn’t included in Bristol City’s matchday squad as they held Newcastle United to a 2-2 draw at St James’ Park.

The on-loan Sunderland full-back started the Robins’ midweek defeat at Fulham, but was subbed before the hour mark.

Will Buckley – Injured

Will Buckley didn’t play a part as Sheffield Wednesday were beaten 1-0 by promotion rivals Leeds United at Elland Road.

Buckley last featured for Wednesday in December when he suffered a shoulder injury against Preston North End.

Oliver Pain – Not selected

Oliver Pain didn’t feature as Motherwell fell to a 5-1 defeat at home to Dundee.

Tom Beadling – Unused substitute

Tom Beadling was an unused substitute as Bury moved three points above the drop zone following a 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic.
