View from the opposition: Jokanović on Sunderland trip

Fulham boss Slaviša Jokanović has called on his players to be at their clinical best when they travel to Sunderland on Saturday.

The Cottergers head to Stadium of Light tomorrow, kick-off 3pm, looking to secure back-to-back victories in the Sky Bet Championship.

Having won three of their previous eight league matches, the visitors this weekend to Wearside are hopeful of gaining some momentum to take into the festive period – very much like Sunderland.

Victory over Birmingham City last Saturday has provided the platform for Fulham to build from, but if they are to reignite their play-off hopes Jokanović believes his players must seize their moments at the Stadium of Light.

“They desperately need the points,” Jokanović said.

“A big number of games are behind them now where they haven’t won at home.

“I expect they are going to be super competitive in this game. The situation they’re in, they need three points.

“100 per cent Sunderland are going to win Championship games at home, [but] I hope they are not going to do it against us. It will definitely be a tough game.

“They’ve got a new coach now, new staff, and they’re desperately waiting for a reaction. They are going to show something different, I expect they are going to show improvements.

“We need to focus on our job, try to dominate Sunderland. We’re going to find a competitive, organised team,” he continued.

“They have quality players - [Aiden] McGeady, [Callum] McManaman, [Lewis] Grabban, who is one of the top scorers in the Championship - and we have to take care.

“We must find our style, start well, be ready to press, and be clinical with our end product when we are in the opposite box.”
