View from the opposition: Shakespeare previews midweek match-up

Craig Shakespeare has warned his side against underestimating Sunderland when the Foxes entertain the Black Cats at the King Power Stadium.

Since the departure of Claudio Ranieri, the interim Leicester City boss has guided his side to four consecutive Premier League wins, becoming the first English manager to win his first four PL games.

Jamie Vardy has also rediscovered the Midas touch scoring in three of his last four games for club and country, with the England international leading from the front.

And speaking ahead of the game, Shakespeare cast his eye over an intriguing match-up.

They’re dangerous opposition,” said the Leicester manager.

“Any team with Defoe in it is, so we have to be aware of his goal threat and respect our opposition.”

He continued: “We strive to win every game and the next game is Sunderland.

“Whether we’re playing a team at the bottom or the top, our goal is the same and that’s to earn three points.

“Last time was a close game and I expect it to be close tomorrow.”
