View from the opposition: Mourinho previews Wearside trip

Jose Mourinho is feeling upbeat ahead of Manchester United’s trip to the Stadium of Light on Sunday (KO 1.30pm).

The Special One’s side are currently enjoying a 20-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, with a place in the top four – and UEFA Champions League football – top of the manager’s agenda.

Sunderland, meanwhile, are hoping to upset the odds and defeat United at the SoL for a successive season, after Wahbi Khazri and Lamine Kone led the charge in February 2016.

Speaking ahead of the game, the United boss challenged his side to continue their unbeaten run.

“I think it’s a good feeling to know we don’t lose many matches, that we have a fantastic run of 20 games unbeaten in the Premier League,” said Mourinho.

“10 matches with 10 draws, you have something that is not easy to have. You are quite solid mentally, difficult to beat, fighting against difficult circumstances.”

The United boss also provided the latest team news, revealing that Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young have joined Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Juan Mata in the treatment room.

“Rooney is not available and Young is injured.

“There is no more news because with Mata, Smalling and Jones you already know we are speaking about old injuries.”
