Manager's preview: Moyes eyes win over West Ham

Sunderland must follow in West Ham United’s footsteps when the sides face off at the Stadium of Light on Saturday (KO 3pm).

The Hammers snapped a five-games losing streak last weekend courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Swansea City, with Cheikhou Kouyate’s 25-yard effort separating the sides.

The Black Cats, meanwhile, tasted defeat for a third successive outing as Manchester United, inspired by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, downed Moyes’ side who were reduced to ten men.

And speaking ahead Saturday’s game, the Sunderland boss urged his side to bounce back and earn a big win.

“I think we have a good chance of winning the game,” said Moyes.

“We have to try and cause them problems but they had a big result last week – and we need one this week.”

He continued: “I think West Ham are safe and I also think they’re a club – and a team – who you expect to be so, as they’ve got a good enough team which means they’ll be okay.

“I think Slaven has done a really good job; he went in and gave them a really good season – probably better than was expected – and they have some really exciting players in their team.

“While you’re trying to establish yourself as a top club, sometimes you can dip down a little bit, but I think they’re a club who are trying to establish themselves at the top more often.”
