Manager's preview: Moyes on Leicester clash

David Moyes sees no reason why Sunderland can’t mount another great escape as the Premier League season reaches its climax.

With just nine games remaining the Black Cats sit eight points adrift of Swansea City, with huge game against Leicester City next on the red and white agenda.

The Foxes have been in scintillating form since Craig Shakespeare took charge winning five consecutive games, but although they’ve edge away from the drop zone they have bigger fish to fry with a UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Atletico Madrid looming large.

And with time running out on Wearside, Moyes is hoping to catch the Foxes cold when the sides face off on Tuesday evening.

“As a manager and as players we don’t like losing – just like the supporters – so we’re all looking for that win to grasp onto and give us a little bit of hope heading into the next game.

“Saturday was very close and if we’d got something from the game I don’t think anyone could have had any complaints, but we didn’t so now we have to go again.”

He continued: “Leicester have shown exactly what they are – a good team.

“When we beat them at home I think a few people were saying they were in trouble, but I personally didn’t see it and I think they’ve got enough quality to show they’re not that sort of team.

“They’re in good form now but they have a lot of big games coming up, so hopefully we can catch them on an off night but they look like they’re back to the form that won them the Premier League.

“We have to keep going until its mathematically impossible for us to stay up, but at this moment in time – while there’s a chance – we will keep going because it’s been done before.”
