Team news: Khazri starts at the SoL

Wahbi Khazri makes his first start since October against West Ham United at the Stadium of Light (KO 3pm).

The winger played a key role in last season’s great escape and David Moyes will be hoping he can play a similar role this term, as the Black Cats attempt to return to winning ways with a victory over the Hammers.

John O’Shea returns to the fold as Lamine Kone drops to the bench, with Javier Manquillo also in the back four as Bryan Oviedo’s misses out due to a hamstring injury.

As expected, Darron Gibson replaces the suspended Seb Larsson as Victor Anichebe and Jermain Defoe spearhead the attack.

Sunderland: Pickford, Jones, O’Shea, Denayer, Manquillo, Cattermole, Gibson, Ndong, Khazri, Anichebe, Defoe.
Subs: Mannone, Rodwell, Borini, Pienaar, Kone, Januzaj, Djilobodoji.
