Team news: Black Cats unchanged at Boro

Sunderland have named an unchanged XI for tonight’s Tees-Wear clash at the Riverside Stadium.

Billy Jones, who was stretchered off against West Ham United, is fit to start against Middlesbrough, with Wahbi Khazri also retaining his place following a man-of-the-match display against the Hammers.

Captain John O’Shea once again partners Jason Denayer in the centre of defence, with Lamine Kone on a bench which doesn’t include Papy Djilobodji as Joleon Lescott comes into the squad.

Last week’s hero Fabio Borini and Adnan Januzaj are also named amongst the substitutes, with Javier Manquillo continuing at left-back in Bryan Oviedo’s absence.

Seb Larsson is unavailable due to suspension.

Sunderland: Pickford, Jones, O’Shea, Denayer, Manquillo, Cattermole, Gibson, Ndong, Khazri, Anichebe, Defoe.
Subs: Mannone, Rodwell, Borini, Pienaar, Kone, Januzaj, Lescott.
