David Moyes has drafted the changes for Sunderland’s EFL Cup tie against Southampton at St Mary’s (KO 7.45pm).
Summer signing Victor Anichebe makes his first start in red and white as Jermain Defoe drops to the bench, with John O’Shea also among the substitutes as Papy Djilobodji partners Lamine Kone in defence.
Jordan Pickford retains his place in the starting XI which also features Duncan Watmore and last round’s two-goal hero Paddy McNair.
A strong bench sees the Black Cats boast the likes of O’Shea, Defoe, Steven Pienaar and Javier Manquillo in reserve.
