Team news : Sunderland v Shrewsbury

David Moyes has named a changed side as Sunderland kick off their EFL Cup campaign on Wearside.

Jordan Pickford starts in goal for the Black Cats as they host Shrewsbury Town at the Stadium of Light.

New boy Steven Pienaar will also make his first start for the club after coming off the bench on Sunday against Middlesbrough.

Also fresh from his debut from the subs’ bench, young striker Joel Asoro will make his first competitive start for Sunderland.

Patrick van Aanholt, who scored at the weekend, will captain the side and Sunday’s man of the match, Lynden Gooch also starts tonight.
