Grace McCatty is determined to do her bit on Sunday as Watford travel to Hebburn.
With the Hornets top of the Southern Premier in the FAWNL, McCatty is excited for a different test.
Watford have only lost twice this season and could provide Sunderland with their toughest challenge yet as they defend an 18-game unbeaten run.
“I think our FA Cup game against Watford provides us with a really good chance to test ourselves against a strong team. Watford are top of the Southern Division and like us are vying for promotion so it’s going to be a tough fixture,” she said.
“It’s a good opportunity to see where we are and really challenge ourselves.
“It’s a very cliche footballing phrase, but we’re just taking each game as it comes. We’d be silly to get ahead of ourselves and think our jobs done just because we’re unbeaten this season,” she continued.
“The key has been focusing on each game as it’s own, ensuring that come the end of 90 minutes we’ve done all we possibly can to walk away with three points, and each week we go out onto the pitch to do the same.
“I’m confident we can continue it, but our priority has to be the game in front of us.”
“For us defenders, keeping a clean sheet is similar to our strikers scoring goals. It’s what we take pride in.
“We know that if we don’t concede and we protect our goal at all costs, we give our team the best chance to go on and win the game.”
