Huddersfield Town 1-4 Sunderland Ladies
Sunderland Ladies fired themselves to the top of the league after they came from behind to record a 4-1 win at Huddersfield Town.
It was a poor start for the Black Cats as Ellie White scored three minutes in. It took a while, but Keira Ramshaw scored in the 46th minute to equalise.
Then goals two goals in three minutes from Katie Barker and Grace McCatty saw the lasses pull away before Bridget Galloway scored in 10 minutes from time wrap things up.
Georgia Gibson retook a place, replacing Abi Cottam as Melanie Reay made a slight shape change for the 9-1 win over Hull City.
A defensive breakdown allowed the hosts to snatch an early lead. With only three minutes played, White turned the ball home after two missed opportunities to clear.
Galloway forced a good fingertip save from Olivia Clark with a shot from the right side of the box in the 19th minute.
Sunderland started to see the majority of possession towards the end of the first half but couldn't test Clark.
However, the second half was a different story. Within a minute of the restart, Clark spilled substitute Barker's cross. Skipper Ramshaw reacted fast to poke home the ball.
Terriers' Lucy Sowerby forced a good save out of Allison Cowling three minutes later.
Laura Elford headed over for the hosts, as substitute goalkeeper and debutant Claudia Moan stood up to Huddersfield's early test only moments after she came on to replace the injured Cowling.
Sunderland took the lead in the 69th minute, Barker burnt the right back for pace before cutting in and neatly finishing at the near post, great stuff from the half time substitution.
Centre-back McCatty would open the gap three minutes later. After being pushed over as she brought down a corner, McCatty recovered nicely, turning and poking home from the edge of the six-yard-box.
Galloway got her customary goal in the 80th minute, the striker turned home Jessica Brown's cross (or rebounded shot depending on who you ask) for Sunderland fourth and her eighth of the season.
The Black Cats managed the game from there, with Huddersfield not managing to test Moan in the final 10.
A great comeback from the Lasses, who go three points clear in the FAWNL Northern Premier ahead of a cup clash at home to Burnley next Sunday.
