Ladies: Galloway relishing Sunday's Wear-Tees test

As Sunderland Ladies prepare for derby game number three of 2019-20, with Sunday’s Women’s FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough fast approaching, Bridget Galloway reflects on the season so far.

The striker scored goals 12 and 13 of the season last time out against Loughborough Foxes, and the goalscoring feeling she continues to enjoy.

“It’s an amazing feeling scoring regularly, I just get this adrenaline rush and a hunger to keep scoring.”

With goals and assists flowing from team-mates, and Sunderland scoring 32 league goals in just nine games, Galloway puts the lasses scoring down to hard work on the training pitch.

“It is great to be surrounded by creative players, we score a variety of different goals from all areas.

“Opposition defences really struggling to cope with our attacking options. We practice hard in our training sessions and the creativity is then transferred to our match days.”

Galloway received her England cap, recognition for her time with the under-19’s, on the lead up to that last game against Loughborough.

She had some advice for young team-mates Neve Herron and Jessica Brown.

“Receiving my England under-19 cap was a proud moment to remember. It put into perspective what I had achieved and made me realise how far I have come.

“All I would say to Jess and Neve is keep striving to achieve their dreams and don’t let anything stop them. They’re really talented young players with a bright future ahead of them!”

The lasses unbeaten run now stands at 14 games, stretching back to April, and Galloway is keen to continue the streak as the promotion push picks up pace.

“The season so far has been amazing! We have had great team performances, especially when playing seven out of nine games away.

“We have had an incredible run of victories, travelling away most weekends. It would be great to carry on our run and go into 2020 unbeaten.

“The target for promotion which was set in pre-season is looking achievable. Reflecting back on the games we’ve played so far this season we have done incredibly well.

“I am very confident that we will achieve our goal for promotion, we are training really hard every week."
