Sunderland Ladies are pleased to confirm that they will be returning to the Hetton Centre (Eppleton Colliery Welfare) to play their home matches for the coming season.
Last season, the Lady Black Cats played their FA Women’s Super League fixtures at Mariner’s Park. As they embark on their FA Women’s National League – Northern Premier Division campaign for the new season, they will play their games at their former home in Hetton and train at the Academy of Light.
Sunderland Ladies general manager, Sonia Kulkarni, said: “We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to everyone at Mariners Park for their help and co-operation last season and to all those fans who supported us.
“Having previously played our games at Hetton, we know that there was huge interest in the women’s team and we are looking forward to returning and continuing to grow the interest in women’s football."
Hetton Town Trust Chairman Alex Scullion said: “It will be a pleasure to welcome the women’s team back home to Hetton. Hopefully they can once again make it the fortress it was for them in previous years, which saw them win promotion to the top tier of women’s football in England.”
Sunderland Ladies new season kicks off on Sunday 19th August at 2.00 pm, when they will face Flyde Ladies FC. The game will be played at the Hetton Colliery Welfare, Welfare Road, Hetton le Hole, DH5 9NE, and gates will be open from 1pm.
