Melanie Copeland is hoping her honeymoon period continues beyond Saturday when Sunderland Ladies entertain Liverpool in the FA Women’s Super League One.
A week after getting married, Copeland is back in the dugout as her Lady Black Cats side welcome Liverpool to Mariners Park on Saturday, kick-off 6pm.
Currently third, the Lasses have enjoyed a bright start which has seen them collect six points from nine, having defeated Reading and Yeovil Town with solid performances.
But with Liverpool providing the next hurdle, Reay believes her players can still give much more despite their pleasing start.
The Ladies head coach has also provided the latest team news with Kasia Lipka set to make her 100th top-flight bow.
“I am very much looking forward to getting back to the league after the Continental Cup,” she said.
“We have had a good start to the season in terms of picking up points, but I am still looking for more in terms of performance on the pitch.
“The girls have been working hard in training this week and I look forward to seeing them replicate that on the pitch on Saturday night.”
“It is a great achievement for Kasia,” she continued. “Let’s hope that she makes many more for Sunderland.”
“We have a couple of injuries, but the squad is in good spirits and looking forward to the match.
“Steph Roche is improving, and Rachel Pitman has returned to training, so we are hopeful that we can have her back on the pitch very soon.”
