Sunderland Ladies take on Aston Villa in the fifth round of the FA Women’s Cup on Sunday (Hetton Centre, kick off 2pm) and Beverly Leon is hoping to make her debut in the competition.
The USA born striker joined SAFC Ladies late last season and has re-signed for the Spring Series. She will be looking to play in the FA Cup for the first time when the Lady Black Cats kick off their season against FAWSL 2 side Aston Villa at the weekend.
“It is a highly regarded competition and I cannot wait to play in it,” said Leon. “I have played in Coppa Italia which is the Italian equivalent and the atmosphere was always electric.”
“Having the FA Cup final at Wembley is a great incentive for everyone to do their best to get there, but for me I’m just really excited for the chance to be playing in my first FA Cup match.”
Sunderland Ladies play Aston Villa on Sunday 19 March, kick off 2pm, at the Hetton Centre.
