SAFC: Club statement

Following the recent reports published by the national press, Sunderland AFC today moved to clarify several points that have caused severe and unwarranted unrest within the club’s fan base.

Over the weekend, SAFC opened up a regular dialogue with the Sunderland Echo in order to draw a line under a series of sensationalist articles relating to Madrox’s ownership of SAFC.

This open and transparent process included providing the Echo with access to the club’s accounts to ensure that any concerns – pre-existing or raised as a result of the recent reports – are put to bed once and for all.

To summarise, Madrox provided the following answers to the key questions put forward by the Sunderland Echo:

Q. Is Sunderland AFC debt free?
A. Yes.

Q. Will all parachute payment monies utilised by Madrox be returned to SAFC?

A. Yes.

Q. Does this process impact the sale of the club in any way?
A. No.

Q. Are Madrox continuing to invest in the club?
A. Yes.
