Club news: SAFC and Utilita extend partnership

Sunderland AFC are today delighted to announce a two-year extension to our partnership with Utilita Energy.

The rising energy brand’s distinctive logo will continue to adorn the back of the club’s iconic red and white home shirts throughout the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns, while also featuring on the away strip.

Utilita’s customer base has almost quadrupled in the last four years, with around 750,000 homes and 20,000 businesses now powered by one of the UK’s fastest-growing energy suppliers.

During that time, Utilita has partnered with more than 20 football clubs, while also supplying energy to a number of iconic stadia, including Ibrox, Selhurst Park and Villa Park, to become an established and recognisable brand within the British game.

After originally joining forces with SAFC in 2017, Utilita has continued to cement it’s commitment to the North East by signing a long-term partnership with the Newcastle Arena, which was renamed the Utilita Arena in January 2019.

Utilita’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Jem Maidment, said: “We are in no doubt that Sunderland is a club going in the right direction – and we consider it a genuine honour to have our brand on their famous jerseys.

“We look forward to continuing to work with SAFC to promote our products and services across the North East – and we fully expect the club to continue to improve and once again become a major force in English football.”

SAFC’s managing director, Tony Davison, added: “Utilita has been a fantastic partner to work with and we are looking forward to building on our strong relationship during the next two seasons.

“Throughout our partnership, they have reaffirmed their commitment to the club and the region, and this extension is another positive step in the club’s growth and development, as we continue to collaborate with a brand that shares our core values.”

Utilita has been leading the way in the smart meter revolution. It installed Britain’s first ever smart meter back in 2008 and 90% of its customers currently have one – the highest percentage of any UK supplier.

Sunderland fans who switch to Utilita will receive a £25 voucher to spend at the club shop and an exclusive SAFC in-home display cover – for more details, simply click here.
