Fan Zone: Hadrian's Tipi coming to the SoL

Hadrian’s Tipi is coming to the Sunderland AFC Fan Zone for one week from Tuesday 12 February to Tuesday 19 February!

Jack Ross’ side are gearing up for a pivotal three-game home stand, with the Lads set to tackle a trio of Wearside clashes in one week, as Blackpool, Accrington Stanley and Gillingham travel to the Stadium of Light.

The Tangerines are first up on Tuesday 12 February (KO 7.45pm), with Accrington and the Gills swiftly following in the footsteps of Terry McPhillips’ side.

Supporters can enjoy the pre-match build-up in style by taking in the cosy atmosphere of Hadrian’s SAFC Fan Zone Tipi.

Hosted by Frankie Francis, fans can gather round the log fires and enjoy a range of food whilst listening to local bands and talk-ins by former players.

Hadrian’s SAFC Fan Zone Tipi will open at 5.30pm on all three matchdays, with itineraries being announced shortly before each game on safc.com.

Sunderland AFC’s managing director, Tony Davison, said: “Our Fan Zone is always really popular with our supporters and it is something we would love to do for every game. Unfortunately, the British weather is unpredictable so it’s not possible to facilitate during the winter. So, what better way to solve that problem than by building a tipi?

“Nearly 50,000 people enjoyed Hadrian’s Tipi in Keel Square over the Christmas period, so it makes absolute sense for us to bring it back for one week only for our games against Blackpool, Accrington Stanley and Gillingham.”

Neill Winch, from Danieli Holdings, added: “We are delighted to be bringing Hadrian’s Tipi back to Sunderland so soon after its successful period in the city’s Keel square. The tipi was a really popular stop for fans on the way to the stadium and the football club are now making it available to supporters who visit the Fan Zone. This will be the first time a tipi has been used in a football Fan Zone, so it is a first for Sunderland.”
