AoL visit: Danish supporters on Wearside

Supporters from Denmark were welcomed to the Academy of Light this past weekend after travelling to Wearside to take in the Good Friday clash with Doncaster Rovers.

Anders, Mathias and Kim are no strangers to the Stadium of Light, having supported the Lads for over 30 years and first visiting back in 1999.

Between the trio they have a pretty impressive record, with Kim having never seen SAFC on the losing side in each of his 11 visits.

Their first trip came almost 20 years ago, when Kevin Phillips and Niall Quinn were on target in a victory over Southampton.

The three fans, who are part of the official Danish and Irish Supporters’ Branch, were lucky enough to visit Jack Ross and the players at the training ground on Saturday morning, before flying home on Sunday.

The club works closesly alongside the Supporters' Association network to engage with official supporter branches throughout the season.

Both the Supporters Association and SAFC are always delighted to welcome new supporter groups.

If you are interested in becoming an official Sunderland AFC branch please contact Sunderland AFC’s supporter liaison officer Chris Waters on chris.waters@safc.com for full details on how to join.

We also have membership schemes for supporters based overseas, click here.

As well as a UK membership scheme.
