FanFest : On the day travel offer for fans

Children going to the Stadium of Light this half term, for Sunderland AFC’s FanFest on Monday 23 October, can travel for free courtesy of Stagecoach North East.

FanFest is a completely free event for supporters of all ages, giving SAFC fans a rare opportunity to watch the first team train, as well as take part in a range of free activities in and around the Stadium.

In an exclusive offer for those attending the event, two children under the age of 16 will receive free return travel to the Stadium of Light, with every adult who purchases a Megarider, Dayrider, or Eveningrider on all Stagecoach buses traveling to and from the stadium on the day.

Stagecoach North East is also providing additional transport from Coxhoe, South Durham and Durham (Neville’s Cross) free of charge. Anyone wishing to take the bus from Coxhoe and Durham must register for tickets at www.stagecoachbus.com/fanfest.

Fans attending FanFest will also be able to climb aboard a Stagecoach bus in the Fan Village and find out what it’s like to be a bus driver.

Sunderland AFC chief executive, Martin Bain said “We are delighted to have Stagecoach North East on board to support FanFest. FanFest is very much about bringing together the club, the fans and the community; an integral part of that is ensuring there are affordable transport options available across the region, so the club and the event are made accessible to everyone. Stagecoach North East’s support is helping us to ensure that as many fans as possible get the chance to enjoy and experience FanFest this half term.”

Stagecoach North East managing director, Steve Walker said: “SAFC and its fans are at the heart of the Sunderland community. As a local bus operator, we are more than happy to get involved and offer our travel services to the families planning to visit Fanfest. With our head office being situated in Sunderland, not far from the Stadium of Light, we’re always keen to support the local area and want to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy this fantastic event on our doorstep.”

FanFest forms part of a range of activities taking place at the Stadium of Light this October half term. Tours of the Stadium will take place every day during the half term week, with children under 16 going free with every paying adult.

The week concludes with the Junior Black Cat Halloween Party on 29 October from 11am and 2pm in the Stadium of Light. Ticket purchasers will be treated to fun, games and music, as well as appearances from first team players and Sunderland AFC mascots, Samson and Delilah.
