Light it up!: Wembley celebrates 10-year anniversary

Wembley Stadium celebrated its 10-year anniversary on Friday 19 May by lighting up its iconic arch in the colours of every football team who has played at the famous arena since its reopening.

Earlier today the famous stadium turned red and white to remember Sunderland’s momentous EFL Cup run during the 2013-14 season.

Just 166 domestic, European and international men’s and women’s teams have graced the Wembley turf in the last decade across a variety of competitions and friendlies.

The Black Cats’ trip to the capital came in March 2014 as they went head to head with Manchester City, and it was a day to remember as Fabio Borini opened the scoring early on.

City fought back and eventually went on to secure a 3-1 win, but the memories forged at Wembley will last a lifetime.
