Meet Aiden: McGeady to appear in Stadium Store today

Sunderland AFC’s latest signing Aiden McGeady will meet fans at the Stadium of Light store today (Thursday), ahead of facing his former club next week.

The Republic of Ireland international is set to make his home debut on Saturday 29th July, in a showpiece game at the Stadium of Light to mark the 20th anniversary of its opening.

The game, the Dafabet Cup, will see Sunderland take on Scottish giants Celtic, a club that McGeady played almost 200 games for.

The player will get his first chance to meet Sunderland fans face to face in the signing session, which takes place in the stadium store today from 4pm until 5pm.

The winger also has a very limited number of tickets for the Celtic game which he will be distributing to selected attendees!

Speaking about his forthcoming appearance, McGeady said: “I am really looking forward to meeting the Sunderland fans. What really stands out about this club is its supporters and there is a real synergy with Celtic in that respect – two big clubs, with incredible fans.

“To be making my home debut against my former club will be a special occasion for me and I can’t wait for the game.”

The Stadium of Light ticket office will be open until 6pm on Thursday evening for supporters who have yet to secure their seat for the Celtic game.

Thousands of Celtic fans are set to make the journey south for the game and a lively, vibrant atmosphere is expected.

Adult tickets are priced at just £15, with over 65s able to get to the game for just £12 and under 22s priced at £7. Tickets for young supporters under 16 are only £5.

A family ticket (one adult & one child under 16) in the north west corner of the stadium is only £18.

Tickets for the Dafabet Cup are available online at websales.safc.com, over the phone on 0371 911 1973 (24 hours), or in person at the Stadium of Light ticket office.
