Preview: Under-18s host Stoke City

Sunderland AFC Under-18s return to league action this Saturday to face Stoke City at the Academy of Light (11am).

Opposition

Stoke City currently sit 11th out of the 13 Premier League sides with five wins and 11 draws from 16 games.

The Potters have two wins from four with victories against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest and defeats against Derby County and Wolves.

The U18 side are currently led by Dave Hibbert.

 

The former striker made over 250 senior appearances for the likes of Preston, Rotherham and Bradford.

 

Hibbert started his coaching career in 2015 taking over the U15s at the Bet365 Stadium.

 

The two sides last met in the Premier League Cup in November where goals from Tommy Watson, Tommy Lavery and Josh Robertson sealed a 3-0 win for the Black Cats.

 

U18 Premier League

 

Sunderland and Stoke sit in the bottom three alongside Blackburn Rovers. The Lads do have two games in hand on their opposition heading into the latter stages of the campaign.

 

Manchester United are the current league leaders with 16 victories and one defeat.

 

Manchester City, Liverpool and Derby County make up the top four.
