Nottingham Forest U21 2-1 Sunderland AFC U21

Sunderland AFC Under-21s exited the Premier League Cup as Nottingham Forest sealed a 2-1 victory in extra-time.

Joe Ryder put the Lads ahead after 30 minutes with a powerful strike at the front post. Kyle McAdam grabbed a brace for the hosts, winning the game in the 115th minute with a close-range strike. 

The Black Cats created the majority of opportunities and had a chance to go ahead on 17 minutes through Timur Tutierov. The ball fell to the Ukrainian U19 international who's low shot was well saved.

The breakthrough was made just moments later as Ben Middlemas' in-swinging corner bounced around in the area before Ryder poked home at the front post.

The hosts applied continuous pressure throughout the second half with the equaliser coming 15 minutes from time. An initial save from Dan Cameron was parried to McAdam to fire home.

As the tie went to extra time, it was the Reds who pushed forward with the winning goal coming once again from McAdam, 115 minutes into the contest. Dan Cameron made the initial save but the defender was on hand to tap in the rebound and win the cup tie for his side.
