Premier League 2: Under-21s travel to Reading

Sunderland Under-21s are back in league action on Saturday with an away trip to Reading in the Premier League 2 (12pm).

 

Opposition

 

Reading are currently 10th in the league table having played 12, won six, drawn two and lost four.

 

The Royals have one win in five league games after recently being defeated 3-2 by Chelsea.

 

Forward, Jayden Wareham is the eighth top goalscorer in the PL2 With 7 in 10 involvements.

 

Noel Hunt is the current lead coach for the U21s.

 

The former striker made over 400 senior career appearances including 145 for Reading.

 

Hunt started his coaching career with Swindon Town in 2018 and also had a stint as Assistant Manager with Doncaster Rovers before returning to Berkshire in 2022.

 

Premier League 2

 

The Black Cats currently sit eighth and have an opportunity to jump into the top five with a win.

 

Tottenham Hotspur sit top of the table having won 11 from 11 so far and are followed by West Ham and Arsenal.

 

Manchester City are bottom of the pile with just one win in 13. Leicester and Everton make up the rest of the bottom three.

Zak Johnson will spend the rest of the season in the League of Ireland Premier Division with Dundalk FC after completing a recent loan move.

 

Ben Crompton continues his recovery after picking up an ankle injury against Leeds United.
