Academy: Lewis Dickman departs SAFC

Sunderland AFC today announced the departure of Academy Manager Lewis Dickman.

Dickman leaves the Club with immediate effect following a two-decade association with SAFC, during which he undertook a variety of roles at the Academy of Light.

A former youth player at Sheffield United, he spent 10 years on Wearside as a Youth Development Phase Coach before joining the Club on a full-time basis as YDP Lead from 2010 to 2014.

Dickman returned to the Academy of Light in 2019 as Head of Coaching, ending a five-year tenure at the Football Association, before being appointed Academy Manager 18 months later.

Kristjaan Speakman said: “Lewis has been a part of our Academy set-up for many years and we thank him for his contribution. On behalf of the staff and players at SAFC, we wish him well in his future endeavours.”

Stuart English has been appointed Interim Academy Manager and the process to appoint a permanent post-holder for the vacant position will commence immediately.
